"Well, that's just fantastic," Chef Anya muttered, her voice devoid of its usual energy. She tossed the review onto the prep counter, the paper landing with a limp thud. Her arms felt heavy, her muscles protesting the simple act of standing. The critics' words, “lacking in flavor and texture,” felt like a personal attack.

The kitchen, usually bustling with activity, felt muted, the usual energy replaced with a heavy quiet. The aromas, normally a source of comfort and anticipation, registered vaguely. She leaned against the counter, her shoulders slouched, the world feeling tilted and uncertain.
